Heroic martyrs in Quang Tri honoured
PANO – A grand requiem for heroic martyrs who laid down their lives in battles in Quang Tri Citadel and Thach Han river for the cause of national independence, was held on July 10th in the central province of Quang Tri.
On the bank of Thanh Han river, flower garlands and coloured lanterns were launched to the stream to honour heroic martyrs. On this occasion, the book “The Legend of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel” was introduced to the public.
The book with a list of more than 4,000 martyrs’ names reflects the magnanimous history of Quang Tri over the 81 days and nights in the scorching summer of 1972 during the epic Quang Tri battle. 10,000 printed books will be presented to martyrs’ families.
The event, which is a meaningful activity to mark the 64th anniversary of Vietnam’s Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27th), drew the participation of many representatives from army units, businesses, veterans and local people.
PANO would like to introduce some photos taken by Nguyen Viet Hung on the special event.
