Hundreds of coracle boats owned by fishermen from three communes of An Vinh, An Hai and An Binh, Ly Son Island District, Quang Ngai Province, catch anchovies every day, as part-time jobs for thousands of local people.
Fishermen often go offshore at 3am and return at 5am and a single coracle could catch nearly 20 kilograms of anchovies.
Around 40 tons of fresh anchovies is caught every day, and each kilogram of anchovies costs VND 12,000.
This year, a school of anchovies has been found around Ly Son Island later than previous year, but with a higher population.
